Barnet Council are reviewing their Local Listed built heritage.

Barnet Council invite all interested individuals or community groups and organisations to participate in an exciting new project aimed at directly involving local communities and heritage groups in the pro-active recognition and assessment of our local built heritage.  

Our aim is to provide skills and training opportunities to volunteers who are keen to assist us in identifying new buildings and structures to compile a comprehensive new Local List of heritage assets in the borough.    

The local list nominations are critical to the recording and documentation of our built heritage assets.   

Your time and interest as a volunteer will help provide up to date information on the existing Local List.  You can also help identify and discover new entries to the Local List!

Newsletter Archive 
The HADAS newsletters have been converted into digital form as part of a permanent archive. We have now completed converting the page images into text to create a complete and searchable archive covering the over 50 years of the Society's history. 


For the academic year 2016/2017 HADAS are again running their post-excavation course, this year entitled "Finds in Focus"This course, which will concentrate on re-analysing, identifying and recording finds from the Birkbeck excavation at Lant Street in 1999 as well as re-boxing and relabelling the artefacts.
The course will be tutored by Jacqui Pearce BA FSA MIfA and will take place on Wednesday evenings from 18.30 for two hours at Avenue House, 17 East End Road, Finchley, N3 3QE. There will be 22 sessions with a term break in December. The cost of the course will be covered by a donation to HADAS of £295. The course starts on Wednesday, 28th September 2016.  

 
Over the years HADAS members and others have produced a number of publications on both the archaeology and local history of the London Borough of Barnet. Some of these publications can now be purchased at specially reduced prices.
  
Church End Farm Building Record

This is a record of the building history at Church End Farm. It was compiled as part of the post-excavation analysis of of an excavation (Site code CEF61) at Church End Farm Hendon in 1960s. 

Hendon House

Excavations at Hendon School prompted research into this important house in the history of Hendon.

Battle of Barnet

Members of Hadas are investigating the Wars of the Roses' site of the 1471 Battle of Barnet.
